FiiT Projects is all of us, our global village. It's a group of people passionate about creating community and resources for those who need it through fun fitness based challenges. It's in the name after all: Fitness, Inspiration, Integrity Teamwork.
FiiT Projects started with Bryan and Christine, a couple who bonded over hair-brained fitness challenges, connecting with other, and trying to give back to the community.
FiiT Projects is all about personal challenge and positive teamwork. We want to carve out a space that allows people to come together, push themselves outside of their boundaries, and accomplish something they maybe never imaged they would. All while raising money for the local community that we live in.
Check out our Facebook page for a detailed video on how the challenge works.
Teams of two will work together to complete one or two laps of the 25km Traboulay trail depending on the challenge they choose.
Teams will start, lap, and finish at the designation location. The teams will designate a starting runner and a starting cyclist. The runner will begin the challenge, running towards the first 5km check point. Approximately 10 minutes later the cycling partner will begin their segment following behind the runner.
The cyclist is fully expected to reach their running partner, and at that point they can choose to cycle along beside their runner, or blast past them to the first check point at the 5km mark.
If the partners decide to do a relay/leapfrog strategy, the cyclist will ride all the way to the 5km checkpoint and leave the bike with a volunteer and begin their running segment. They will then run from the 5km checkpoint to the 10km checkpoint.
When the runner reaches the 5km checkpoint they will pick up their team bike, and cycle from the 5km checkpoint to the 10km checkpoint.
At any time, the teams can decide to stay together, and run and bike as a group.
The alternating 5km segments will continue until the team reaches the midway or 25km finish line.
For those who are challenging 50km, once the cyclist reaches the 25km checkpoint, they must wait for their runner to catch up to the checkpoint before they can continue running on the second lap. This is all about team work!
Once the runner reaches the 25km, the course is open and the team can continue their second lap in the same alternating pattern.
For those that are challenging 25km, congratulations you are done, go have a celebratory drink!
All you need is a partner to take on this challenge, a working bike to share between the two of you, and a willingness to try something new.
The registration fee proceeds go to the Port Coquitlam SHARE Society. We provide an event t-shirt as part of the registration fee, and the rest goes to SHARE in order to support the food bank.
FiiT Projects is a 100% volunteer based, not for profit, organization.
